The 125K Year

This goal has the following fine print specified by florismk:

The goal is to write at least 125,000 words in the 365 days of calendar year 2017. The metagoal is to be productive in all ways that further my goal to make a living with writing-related activities.

Words count only if they're written as new prose, either in a new first draft, or in a new section of an existing draft, or in a subsequent draft written from scratch. Outlining counts as well, as does synopsis writing.

Given my light touch in editing, editing my own work counts at a rate of 2:1 or less, so 5000 words edited equals 1000 words or less towards my goal. Combination writing/editing counts at a rate determined by my own estimate of the proportions of writing and editing. I will always report the total number of words wredited in the comment.

Timelining my work in Aeon counts 1:20, meaning that for every draft section I accurately and completely place on the timeline, I count 1/20 of the words towards my goal.

Blogging on my own site counts 1:2 only above 500 words, and blog posts and columns written at request or to order always count fully.

Critiquing other writers' stories counts at a rate of 2:1, so for writing 250 words of critique, I log 125 words. In this case, too, I will always report the total number of words of critique written.

Translation also counts at 1:2, regardless of whether I'm translating my own work, or doing a translation job for a client.
